1950's Era Rollfast "Springer" #308804
On September 23, 2010 I answered an advertisement on "Craigslist" and found this Rollfast in Baltimore. A six hour round-trip got this bike onto my front porch.

The first changes made were to make the bike rideable. The seat, mountain bike tires, and handle grips came from my stockpile of junk. I have also disassembled both wheel hubs and cleaned the components. I flipped the handlebars over for the sake of my spine. I have removed the luggage rack, but only temporarily. I don't want to damage it while working on the bike. I'm also on the hunt for a chainguard, fenders and horn tank. When I find all the parts I want, I'll have everything sand blasted and powder coated.
The Donor Bike
On October 16, 2010 I saw this ladies bike on the back of a pick-up truck piled with junk. The owner was more than happy to sell it to me. The handle bars, wheels & tires, chain, and chain ring were taken from this bike to use on my Rollfast. This bicycle set me back a whole five bucks!

Well here it is. The next step is sand blasting and powder coating. The seat will be replaced, and a different seat post is in order too.

Well here it is. I'm sure I'll make cosmetic changes for a long time, but I'll call it complete now.
Custom Leather Seat & Tool Bag.
My friend Wayne took the old framework for the seat and covered it with leather. As an added touch, the Grateful Dead motif was added. I also wanted a tool bag to carry a few things I might need on the road...wrenches, screw drivers, pliers, lock...you get the idea. Wayne made the toolbag to match the seat. I like it alot!
